It is 6 km to the next ferry port Puttgarden.

The ferry to Rödby (Denmark) takes 45 min to cross the Baltic Sea.

Fehmarn is the third-largest island in Germany. Since 1963 the impressive Fehmarnsund bridge connects it with the mainland. The "Kleiderbügel (coat hanger)" traverses the 1.300 metres wide Fehmarnsund and is the island landmark.

 

Fehmarn is the sunniest island in the Baltic Sea. Affectionately it is called "Pearl of the Baltic Sea" or simply "Knust (crust)" (unshaped piece of bread).
